I Am Me

I am my own kind

and have my own unique mind

I will always be real

and live the way I feel

I am unique

even though some people think I am a freak

but that’s just how I was made to be

because I live my life free

I am not bound by any chains

and love and care is what flows through my veins

I am not like others

trying to imitate their brothers

and thinking they too cool to kiss their mothers

I am not like these people

even though we are all equal

I wasn’t made that way

and yes that’s ok

because I’m happy at the end of the day

I see things differently through my own eyes

and what you might think is true I might just say is lies 

Young Man

 As the young man takes a seat he slowly sinks into deep thinking

wishing he could erase his past and quit drinking

as he takes a trip down memory lane

he drives along a street called joy but soon comes to a dead end called pain

just last week his girlfriend said goodbye

and being a real man he put aside his pride and started to cry

wishing so much he could travel back in time

just to make a few changes so that everything will be fine

filled with sadness he thinks he lost the girl of his dreams

thinking he is now a nobody well at least that’s what it seems

its about time this young man made a U-turn

time for him to realize he has a lot to learn

he now starts to work harder every day

its a new year and he receives a promotion in May

on his way home from work guess who he sees

its his ex girlfriend and she falls to her knees

he asks her what’s this all about

and she answers him saying you my only way out

he tells her that the day she left him he promised himself he would never go back

she now starts to cry and tells him that she’ll change and stopping smoking crack

he tells her unfortunately its a little too late

and he wishes her the best but as for him its a new life that he is looking to create

so sad that this is how it had to be

but new vision is what came upon him and now he sees clearly

he now gets back into his car in this case being his mind

putting in gear his conscience waiting to see what he will soon find

whether I’m speaking straight forward or metaphorically

this could make you smarter so dress your mind accordingly

the young man starts to live a new life

starts getting things together and sooner than later finds a wife

his blessings are now more than abundant

and he thinks to himself how the old choices he made were really so redundant

you never know when change will come around

and listening to the singing of your heart can be a life changing sound

The Untitled

Seeing so many people suffering from hunger

listening to old people saying to themselves that they aren’t getting any younger

these people in such different situations

both groups of people human beings but are of no relation

in the same room somebody laughs and another cries

telling one person the truth and another a whole lot of lies

what causes one to do such a thing

what gives a man confidence to secure his lady with that all important ring

all these thoughts in my mind do occur

and if writing them down is the right thing to do, I don’t know for sure

the most peaceful place to be is fast asleep

but how can you ignore seeing a grown man weep

these moments in life we cannot ignore

and I know there is always change but there needs to be more

I can’t stand seeing people suffer on a daily basis

and people getting treated better than others because they have pretty faces

college students chasing that all important college degree

planting the seed eventually bank branches growing out of the well groomed money tree

but what next, where to go

each day going by so fast wishing there was something to make it all go slow

I hate to face this sad reality

so I take advice from others to grow a better mentality

 we gotta keep hoping and dreaming

stopping the people with evil plans that they are always scheming

how can rich people think about having more

while the struggles of others they see they chose to ignore

I am not looking to judge, I am just bringing up a point

could that be the reason Iv seen many a young boy rolling up a joint

a plan to change this world I wish I could invent

but all I can think of is to pray and hope that all these people will repent

now I’m not saying I’m a saint and I know I am a sinner

but all I’m tryna say is bringing change to people’s lives is what makes you a real winner

C.O.P(Change of Perspective)

The queen of England being worldwide respected

starving children needing help so easily being neglected

our society being constantly polluted

every year another man having to leave his family because by the army he was recruited

putting his life on the line to serve his nation

a once upon a time united world now reaching it’s peak of segregation

what is the cause

and how did that man in the street end up on all fours

seeing a grown women getting beat by her man hurts real bad

you could offer me the world now and I’d still be sad

why is it her and not me

helpless for the moment just praying the day will come where she will finally be free

how can a man live knowing he’s caused her so much pain

how often people get caught up living life in the fast lane

money, power and greed being the world’s focus

and thoughts different from that being called hocus pocus

Good vs Evil

In the fight of good and evil there can only be one winner

yes you gotta choose whether you will be a saint or a sinner

round one here we come

will you pick up the Bible or the gun

what is your weapon of choice

remember this will decide how people will hear your public voice

ok it’s time for me to stop talking

and time for you to start walking

 time for your private voice to speak

time to get out of your comfort zone, where your knees get weak

well where do we start you say

let’s take it back to that unforgettable New Year’s day

on New Year’s day we all have a resolution or two

we all hope and pray all our wishes will finally come true

well let’s have a look at what your resolutions are

does it involve charity work or buying that new fancy car

in this world satisfaction does not exist and that is why we see many a man drunk in a bar

well should we let the movie keep playing or do you wanna pause it right there

sadly this is our reality and yes life is unfair

think about how a critical decision you make

is influenced by your beliefs or religion whether it be real or fake

really troubling to the mind when you think about it

and there’s always a problem when the choice you make is made but you doubt it

the fight of good and evil goes on and seems like it will never end

now good starts to stumble when you find that your newest enemy is your old best friend

looking into the mirror of your mind you see your feelings reflection

remembering the past and how good it was and how unfortunate it is that you and your best friend have lost the connection

as you put on your GPS navigator to get back to where things were

you look at the screen but all you see is a blur

the fight goes on round by round

and as the fans cheer they see a change that is unbelievably profound

there is a blackout in the ring

and sitting in the silence the fat lady did not sing

I guess this means the fight is postponed for a later date

and in this game of chess between good and evil no one was able to say checkmate

to be continued...

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time there lived what her family called a princess

living her whole life with so much she wanted to confess

going through life wrapped up in a protective bubble

her parents thinking this would keep her out of trouble

little did they know this would make the trouble double

keeping all these thoughts she had inside

unable to forget the day she took a life ruining ride

the question why always ringing in her head

and how different everything would have been if no is what she had said

to her it feels like she’s slowly losing her balance

although she’s been blessed with so many different talents

the scale is now tipping over to the wrong side

still she does not find someone with whom she can confide

she is slowly growing apart from her dad

being unable to count the sleepless nights she’s had

she seems ok when she is alone

but gets uneasy when talking with her friends on the phone

crazy how they say silence can be so loud

yet we are so easily influenced by the noise of a crowd

how is it possible that one mistake can be life changing

how can one wrong move be so degrading

her life started off so bright but now it seems to be slowly fading

on the surface she wears a smile brighter than the sun

but underneath its all pain and no fun

feeling chained up and wishing she could just run

run so far away from this two faced life she is living

she’s come so close to telling but still won’t give in

instead she keeps all these feelings inside

walks away and finds a new place to hide

every story doesn’t have a happy ending

and as you could see all she wanted was to stop pretending

Open Your Blinds

Living in a world so dark you can fall asleep with your eyes open

the same government party winning the elections but everybody still voting

hearing the same tragic stories all the time so we take it as the norm

evil still lurking around each day disguised in a different form

alcohol becoming man’s best friend

but years later it bites like a dog bringing yet another life to an end

happy birthday to the man who just turned 99

and congratulations to the lady who made it through the struggle reminding us that everything gonna be fine

sometimes you gotta think outside the box that is in the box

you gotta look at stones as being little rocks

come on its time to pull up your socks

its all about your outlook

and when you finally reach your goal its all worth it no matter how long it took

life is a story and you the author of your book

change is gonna come if you think it

and your cup of coffee gonna get cold if you don’t drink it

you gotta grab it like it’s your only chance you’ll ever get

and if you’re the underdog, well then here comes the biggest upset

the best feeling ever, living life with no regrets

The Race of Life

This is the most important race of your life

and going through it you will face a lot of strife

but it won’t always be

as you will soon see

on the way people will tempt you with greed

but that’s not what you need

you came to finish the race

so you need to go take that first place

people will always have lots of things to say

like join us on the broadway

but that way is not right and you gotta resist the temptation

so go and join a church, a congregation

you might also get caught up with so called good people that won’t treat you good

like you think they should

yes they will do you dirt

and leave you with lots of pain and hurt

people will mess with your emotions

and try to stop you from having daily devotions

but there is also a good side to this difficult race

that will soon change the look on your face

these good people will have very different things to say

and they will help you and show you the right way

they will teach you about a mighty God which they love

that is always there high up above

they will tell you that He is the one that made you and me

and that if we follow Him He will set us free

He will give us eternal life

and take away all our pain and all the strife

so which path will you choose

just make sure it will decide whether you win or lose...#CJB#

Think Again pt. 1

Born in the trap thinking there’s no way out

people criticizing you yet they don’t no what you about

feeling like there’s nothing to live for and that no one can here you shout

don’t lose hope because there’s a lot to live life for

and I really hope you still listening because I wanna tell you how wonderful you are and a whole lot more

do you realize your mom’s alive yet she’s been sick for half her life on earth

now think of the love yol share and all she’s done for you since birth 

that connection you share with her can never be broken

know that all the prayers you’ve prayed are not forgotten and your dad can one day quit smoking

the end...haha nah im just joking

 forgive me for having a sense of humor

but take a walk with me through the hospital and have a look at the man with a tumor

in so much pain yet still able to give us a smile

that is because he knows pain don’t last forever and he’ll be ok in just a while

you gotta keep your head up so you don’t run into something you don’t need to

and does the FBI give up on a case if they are searching for just one more clue

I would think not

and if you beg to differ have a look at the news and look at where that innocent man got shot

he was like 47 with just his car and a phone

and as they threatened to kill him his last words were please just let me see my kids and my wife at home

showing him no mercy it was a cold blooded murder

a family left in such a mess feeling they can’t go any further

as he lay there assumed to be dead in the bed he’s heart started to beat again

and so the doctors called the family and let them know the great news, now isn’t that insane

a heartbeat felt from a dead man

walking out the hospital I bet he felt like Peter Pan in neverland

a lot of people have it worse off than we think we do

and when life knocks you down remember your reaction is up to no one else but you

Where is the Love???

As I sit and watch the news

I wonder where is the love and so I start searching for clues

searching for days and hearing nothing but me, myself, and I

the first question coming to mind is why?

the world has become such an evil place

and the happenings of each day can be clearly defined as a disgrace

one of the reasons this is happening is because most people have lost hope

and many living tough lives have started to rely on dope

its a really sad sight to see

because I always wonder what all these lost people could have lived to be

nowadays its no big deal for people to fake it

to look into the eyes of a young child seeing their good heart and still break it

is it too much to give someone a helping hand

too much to hear someone out and let them know that you understand

what is this distance we have between each other

how can a man take money over his own blood, his brother

people will do anything just to make a dollar

to give up working a blue collar

how is it that what people desire most is a piece of paper

yet it is inevitable that it’s value will soon taper

many a person being charged for extortion

cold blooded murder being disguised by a term we know as abortion

can you live knowing you killed your own child

letting them face the consequences of you living wild

yes you might say it was one big mistake

but realize the outcome is never ending heartbreak

its a cold world slowly turning into ice 

but lastly ask yourself if the love you show does suffice

Winners and Losers

Never been a winner and always been a loser

the cool kid seeing the nerd girl but will never choose her

its only in the movies that they end up together

and they say racism is dead but I think its still here now and will be forever

the only way things will change is if we all have a change of mindset

but as soon as we bring up a difficult topic people seem to get upset

I guess everybody has their own perspective

but what I always wonder is what is each of our objectives

have you ever thought about thinking about what you thinking

or do you just listen to all that you hear and let it sink in

it makes you think doesn’t it

and a lot of people that didn’t get that will probably just say they loving it

ignorance seems to dominate our society

people only knowing their own and not realizing the world is filled with so much variety

I find it a real mystery

that everybody can’t live free

living in sin that’s a S-ign I-s I-t N-ot

don’t you know you can be forgiven or is it something you forgot

well let’s track back to our ancestors days

when freedom did not exist and innocent people were made slaves

if it weren’t for people like Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther

you too would be slaving and have no bright future

Broken Key

Today I looked at the floor and saw a broken key

immediately thoughts coming to mind wondering if this key could unlock me

where is its other half

if it was put together again could it hold as much power as Moses’ staff

could this be the key to something brand new

or the point in life where friends become few

crazy that a broken key can get me stressing

disguised so well could this be a blessing

although this broken key can’t set us free

it has brought about more poetry

another chance to clear my mind

a chance for new ideas to find

sometimes in life when we feeling down and low

we run into something so small yet it causes us to grow

the beauty of life, freedom of choice

never feel inferior and let people hear your voice

who knew that a broken key

could bring about so much mystery

Where do we go from here

how do we overcome our greatest fear

faced with new challenges everyday

constantly looking for the right words to say

feeling like you got your back against the wall

well before you learn how to walk you gotta crawl

getting to the top is not an easy process

and yes this journey will be filled with a lot of stress

but don’t rush just take some time to reflect

and good values and morals please do not neglect

looking at the top from down below

realizing how much room you have to grow

that’s when success is not too far away

and each time you wake up it seems to be a brighter day

the transition from rags to riches

the change from broken smiles to joyful pictures

it all happens so fast

and it doesn’t take too long for our future to become our past

so give your all each and every day

and before you know it work will become play

Rewind and think

People say you don’t have a heart

now rewind that thought back to the start

is it possible to live without breathing

is wanting something the same as needing

I don’t think that’s how the story goes

and we all would like to hear something that nobody knows

is such a thing possible

or am I being completely illogical

if I said yes you’d probably think I’m crazy

others would think I’m tryna be like Jay-Z

but I’m just tryna bring about some thought

and into this web of comparisons we all eventually do get caught

who has the right answers will always be debated

and we say that racism is dead but we will always be separated

walking through a tunnel where you see no light

hoping and praying that everything will be alright

we have to hold on to the hope we have even if its small

because giving that up is when everything will start to fall

no one can say you don’t have a heart

and if you don’t agree then you are far from smart

we each have the freedom in life to choose what it is we want to do 

and also the freedom to believe and accept what we think is true

so i’ll leave the rest up to you...

These thoughts of mine

All of these thoughts going through my mind

is there a solution to all our problems we can find

all I see is trouble and issues

people running to find the nearest box of tissues

why do the rich seem sadder than the poor

maybe its because all they think about is money and how to make more

our emotions keep changing like the seasons

not stopping for anyone or for any reasons

at times I feel so confused

I just can’t fathom why so many people are abused

people are dying everyday

everyone fighting for survival tryna find their way

so many people feeling so much pain

negativity coming down us like sheets of rain

through all of this though we hope and pray

that change will come our way some day

The Blankness

The Blankness

Before I started to write

the page was blank and the page was white

my thoughts ready to flow onto the canvas like a piece of art

but its not just pen and paper its emotions expressed from the heart

close in relation but yet so far apart

can these dreams of mine become a reality

or are these farfetched thoughts leading me to a fatality

only time will tell I guess

like a man on his knees praying his lady will say yes

or the young boy playing his best so the coach he will impress

crazy that we’ve come so far and still have a way to go

planting our seeds, watering them, and watching them grow

remembering the process wasn’t fast but slow

but eventually the seeds become flowers

and the reward is great and well worth the hard-working hours

an all important page of your life is now completed

but now is not the time to become conceited

because that is when pride will come along and you will be defeated

its time to pick up the pen and start to write again

time to help others who are going through a lot of pain

this page even bigger than the last

a chance to change many a person’s painful past

a chance to be the star in the movie “life” being a part of the all important cast

and no the story does not end there

and yes I still have a lot more to share

but its time for me to refill the pen with some more ink

time for you to decide whether you gonna let this ship sink

or turn it all around, share this story, and start to make others think

Reminiscing on the bad decisions you’ve made

feeling like this state of mind will never fade

people telling you to move along

but still you feel what you’ve done was so so wrong

just wanting someone to be there to give you support

but instead all they say is forget about it because life is too short

wishing you had a chance to erase your past

and asking why the good times never seem to last

sitting in a room full of people yet feeling so alone

talking about one thing yet your mind is in another zone

they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger

but all you can think about is that you can’t take all this pain any longer

wishing you could have a new start

and mend together all the pieces of your broken heart

were the mistakes you made unexpected

or was good thought about these situations neglected

either way life still goes on

and each year we end up with a new favorite song

Relationships come and go

some go fast and some go slow

although some end up lasting forever

maybe this is because these relationships we do endeavor

this is a choice in life that we make

sometimes ending up disappointed finding that some friends are fake

but we gotta realize not everyone is perfect

and we gotta put our efforts in the relationships we believe are worth it

we have to realize we all have some issues

and now is not the time to run for the nearest box of tissues

we are all unique and are individually gifted

its just sometimes in life problems come along that need to be shifted

if this act of wisdom we can achieve

then in our most difficult relationships we will start to believe

we each have one life no replay

so we need to enjoy it always having something good to say

Little Girl

Little Girl

Looking into the eyes of this pretty young girl

wondering what she thinks of this big crazy world

where she comes from has no good

going through each day she does the best that she could

hoping that this world she can someday change

slowly her life she starts to rearrange

she starts to get good grades in school

still her parents neglect her efforts and call her a fool

now we would think that’s where it all ends

but there’s much more to this story my friends

next her dad leaves the house

then her mother too in search of a new spouse

she is left alone with her big brother

forced the two of them have to look after each other

the brother provides for them throughout each year

but due to the pain he finds a friend named beer

thinking this would solve it all

he doesn’t realize this is his biggest fall

a solution to this problem he’s got to find

trying to get all of these sad thoughts out of his mind

where there is a will there is a way

here comes his sister with something to say

wise words flow out of her mouth like a fountain

she tells him that they are almost at the top of this mountain

she lets him know that a change is coming

and tells him that he needs to stop running

this hits him like a whirlwind

he falls down to his knees and says Lord please forgive me for I have sinned

the next morning he awakes with a new idea

he takes a walk to the bank beginning to conquer his fear

he takes out a loan to pay his sister’s school fees

walking home he see’s his friend and tells him to stop smoking dem trees

he finally learns what it means to be a man

his sister goes through school and does the best that she can

this is a new chapter in each of their lives

no more dodging bullets and ducking emotional knives

they were destined to find a way

and yes the loan big brother took out he did pay

this pretty young girl graduated with all A’s

and finally found her way out of this insane maze

the odds for them to lose were as high as the sky

yet they kept fighting each day and we wonder why

the moral of the story is to never give up

push through the pain and you’ll end up with a full cup
